CFAU hosts seminar for young diplomats from Egypt

China Foreign Affairs University (CFAU) hosted a seminar for young diplomats from Egypt's Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Beijing, Tianjin and Jiangsu province from Dec 16 to 26, 2025.

The program was commissioned by the Ministry of Commerce of China and conducted under the guidance of the Department of West Asian and North African Affairs of the Foreign Ministry, and the Chinese Embassy in Egypt.

Wang Shiting, secretary of the CPC CFAU Committee, attended the seminar on building a China-Egypt community with a shared future and delivered the opening address.

On Dec 16, the opening ceremony took place at CFAU, with speeches delivered by CFAU Vice-President Sun Jisheng and Egyptian Ambassador to China Khaled Ahmed Farouk Nazmy.

Shereen Ismail Mohamed Elshahawi, vice-dean of the Egyptian Institute for Diplomatic Studies, spoke on behalf of the participants and expressed appreciation for CFAU's warm hospitality. The ceremony was moderated by Ma Xinyu, director of CFAU's foreign affairs office.

The event featured a series of lectures delivered by experts on topics including China's diplomacy, China's economic landscape, Chinese history and culture, China-Africa relations, the Belt and Road Initiative, the international landscape and major-country diplomacy.

On Dec 18, CFAU held a seminar on the China-Egypt community with a shared future.

To further deepen these diplomats' understanding of China's foreign policy, CFAU arranged for them to observe a regular press conference at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and to engage in exchanges with spokesperson Lin Jian.

The participants also visited Huawei, the Palace Museum and the Mutianyu Great Wall, gaining first-hand experience of China's leading enterprises, its long history and splendid culture.

From Dec 21 to 25, they undertook field visits to Nanjing and Zhenjiang in East China's Jiangsu province, as well as to North China's Tianjin municipality to learn about China's local development experience and regional cooperation practices.

On Dec 26, CFAU President Gao Fei and Liu Rutao, and Liu Rutao, vice-president of the Academy for International Business Officials of MOFCOM, delivered speeches at the closing ceremony delivered speeches at the seminar's closing ceremony, congratulated the participants on the completing the program, and presented certificates of completion. Deputy Chief of Mission of the Egyptian Embassy in China Haitham Abdelhady also attended the ceremony.

This seminar is expected to help young Egyptian diplomats gain a deeper understanding of China and contribute to building a closer China-Egypt community with a shared future.
