The Research Center on Building a Community with a Shared Future for Humanity was officially inaugurated in Beijing on January 2, 2025. Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and Chinese foreign minister, unveiled the research center's nameplate and delivered a speech at the inaugural ceremony.
Wang Yi congratulated on the establishment of the Research Center at China Foreign Affairs University (CFAU). Building a community with a shared future for humanity is a major original idea of Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, and the core concept of Xi Jinping Thought on Diplomacy. It is China's answer to the question of "what kind of world to build and how to build it," and has considerable theoretical value, great significance for the times and far-reaching global influence.
The Research Center on Building a Community with a Shared Future for Humanity is established primarily by CFAU. It aims to deepen academic research, provide policy recommendations, enhance public awareness, and develop talent for the vision of a community with a shared future for humanity. The center will provide theoretical, policy, discourse, and personnel support to advance this vision and better serve China's major-country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics.
First, we must uphold General Secretary Xi Jinping's core position on the CPC Central Committee and in the Party as a whole, and uphold the Central Committee's authority and its centralized, unified leadership. We should deeply comprehend the essence and practical requirements of Xi Jinping Thought on Diplomacy, master and apply its standpoints, viewpoints, and methods, adhere to integrating the basic tenets of Marxism with China's specific realities and fine traditional culture, proceed from China's realities, carry forward Chinese cultural traditions, and conduct in-depth research on the theoretical essence and practical connotation of the community with a shared future for humanity, so as to enrich the theoretical system of major-country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics.
Second, we must adhere to the principle of learning for practice. We should focus on solving problems, take responsibility and deliver results, improve research and studies, proactively offer recommendations, and provide more robust intellectual support for building a community with a shared future for humanity.
Third, we must attach importance to international exchanges. We should strengthen the systematic explanation and international communication of a community with a shared future for humanity, better tell China's stories, make China's voice heard, effectively interpret and disseminate China's foreign policy and major diplomatic initiatives, strive for greater understanding and wider recognition, and secure the international moral high ground.
Fourth, we must forge inner strength and inspire talents. We should closely integrate discipline development with talent cultivation, nurture students through education and culture guidance, foster a new pattern of all-round education, and produce more new diplomatic personnel who demonstrate loyalty to the Party, patriotic dedication, and the ability to shoulder significant responsibilities.
